The difference between Jacksonville Beach and Amelia Island in Florida?

My family and I will be going to Florida in the beginning of August, and we’ve narrowed down between our two favorite beaches: Jacksonville and Amelia Island. Has anyone been to one of these or preferably both? Which is quieter? Nicer? What hotel did you stay at and was it good? This information would be really helpful if your able to get it! Thanks!

I’m wondering why you narrowed it down to those two. I’m a Florida resident, and those aren’t really well-liked beaches amongst Floridians. Beaches in the Panhandle have white sand and clear, still, blue waters, while beaches on the Atlantic are better for surfing, but have icky-colored sand and dark waters. If you head to South Florida, you’ll find waters that are even brighter blue than those in the Panhandle, but the scene at night can be a bit wilder in some spots (think South Beach). I recommend you look into Ft. Lauderdale (close enough to Miami for a day trip), Pensacola, and Destin.

Before we proceed farther with our history it may be proper to look back a little, in order to account for the late conduct of Doctor Harrison; which, however inconsistent it may have hitherto appeared, when examined to the bottom will be found, I apprehend, to be truly congruous with all the rules of the most perfect prudence as well as with the most consummate goodness. We have already partly see...

Fielding's third great novel has been the subject of much more discordant judgments than either of its forerunners. If we take the period since its appearance as covering four generations, we find the greatest authority in the earliest, Johnson, speaking of it with something more nearly approaching to enthusiasm than he allowed himself in reference to any other work of an author, to whom he was on...
