What to do in Ayia Napa?
next August i am planning to go to ayia napa (cyprus) with my friends for 2 weeks.
How much money should i take? – i plan to go clubbing often
http://www.getaway-villas.com/cyprusVillaRental.asp?AyiaThekla/AyiaNapaVilla=Primrose&propertyID=1250 this is where i plan to stay, it says its 6km from town is this close enough for a taxi and will it be expensive?
Is alcohol expensive also any other information you can give me will be much appreciated
Agia Thekla is really on the outskirts of Agia Napa, and is only a short drive away, however, taxis aren’t that cheap anymore, particularly as the petrol here has become quite expensive. There is a bus service, which is fairly regular, but don’t think its running by he time the clubs turn out in the early hours. Why have you chosen to stay in Agia Thekla? Its pretty much just a residential area, with very few bars and restaurants…..you really will have to travel backwards and forwards into ‘Napa for nightlife etc……and Thekla only really has one decent beach, whereas ‘Napa has several, good, sandy beaches.
Why not consider staying in ‘Napa itself? Check out The Takkas Hotel Apartments ( www.olympicholidays.com). Its fairly basic, but it is right at the top part of ‘Napa, and is just a ahort walk from TheSquare where all the clubs are situated, and isn’t too far from all the bars, restaurants and beaches.
August is really, really busy as many Cypriots take the whole month off to avoid the heat, so they will be holidaying too…..and tend to take over the beaches!! Cyprus can no longer be considered to be cheap, as since we changed to the Euro, prices have really crept up. The price of beer can vary from place to place. We regularly have a drink down in the harbour, and in the space of a couple of months, they put the price of a bottle of Mythos up from 3 Euros to 4.60 Euros!! You can get it cheaper than that in most places….bu don’t be tempted to drink any REALLY cheap beer……you just don’t know whats in it!! Also, unless you are experienced drivers or bikers, please don’t be tempted to hire out mopeds /scooters / buggies or quads………it can be quite dangerous, particularly as the Cypriots have heir own unique way of driving!!!
The only thing I can say is come prepared, make sure you have plenty of money , though, just bring out a small amount of Euros to cover your first day or so, but change the rest of your money at any of the many exchange kiosks dotted around ‘Napa ( check first to make sure they don’t charge commission) but you will find that you will get a better rate of exchange than in the U.K.
Also…..if you do decide to come in August…it can be very hot….anything up to 45C…possible more, so be prepared.
Whatever you decide, I’m sure you’ll have a great time…I live in Xylofagou, about 8K from ‘Napa.
