21st birthday in Santa Monica. HELP?
Hey all!
Im trying to put together a 21st birthday for my boyfriend.
Im looking for something very nice yet pretty easy on my wallet.
ive tried vacation rentals and they all seem pretty lame.
Are there any nice affordable hotels along the beach?
my price range is like $150 a night.
no matter if its santa monica, venice beach, malibu, santa barbara, i just need something that will fit my budget but will make him excited

Looks like you missed the first lesson of ECON 101: Supply and demand. High demand and limited supply means high prices. I’m sure you’ve seen by now that hotels along the beach are generally a lot more than $150 a night, which is the price of an average hotel in LA. Even the Holiday Inn, a couple blocks from the beach, runs about $200 per night on average.
If you go to Carpinteria, there are some hotels there that are a few blocks from the beach that are nice, which you can get for about $150. Try the Holiday Inn Express or the Best Western Carpinteria.
