Which Disney hotel for a family with a 6 year old?
We are transferring from our timeshare, and have a choice of the following:
Disney’s Beach Club Villas
Disney’s BoardWalk Villas
Disney’s Old Key West Resort
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
The Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
We will have a 1 bedroom. Which would you choose and why? We are planning on going sometime between mid October and early December. Want good food options, a good pool if we go in October, near a park, if possible. Any other info helpful! We understand different people will like different hotels for different reasons. That’s why we are looking for everyone’s opinions for help.
I have read the websites…I am looking for personal experience, not pasted websites!!!
Boardwalk and Beach Club are both a short walk from EPCOT and Beach Club has Beaches & Cream restaurant which has yummy shakes and good burgers. And of course at the Boardwalk resort, there is the Boardwalk itself which has the ESPNZone restaurant and a great bakery among other things. A lot of people, ourselves included, think the pool at the Beach Club (which is also shared by the Yacht Club) is one of the best of the resort pools. The shipwreck slide is awesome!
We also love Wilderness Lodge, more for the decor and setting. A big bonus is that we love both restaurants there, Artist Pointe and Whispering Canyon Cafe. Roaring Forks (the food court type restaurant) is alright.
We are Disney Vacation Club members, and Saratoga Springs is our home resort, so of course we love it there too. The location to Downtown Disney is great, but some people do complain it’s too far from the other parks. Some people also complain that SSR is too large and spread out, so if depending on what building you stay at, you may be far from the main building where the pool and the restaurants are located. But with the internal SSR bus, you normally don’t wait more than 10-15 minutes for a bus. The pools at SSR are great, we particularly love the zero depth entry pool for the little ones, but I don’t imagine that’s a big deal for you guys since your little one is 6 years old.
We’ve never stayed at Key West, but I do know the sizes of the rooms there are a little bit bigger than at the other resorts.
Hope that helps a little.
