What to do in JAMAICA, Montago BAY?

I am staying at all- inclusive resort:HOLIDAY INN Sunspree, Montego BAY. Has anyone been here? Is it nice? I have 3 kids! SHould we go out and do a tour? What are some fun things to do there? What should I know about Jamaica? FIRST TIME going! Any info would be appreciated and helpful! Does the resort provide towels? What should I bring? Is the food good? How is the weather in June?How is the money? Do they take US money? THANKS!

1. I went there in May 2003 and it was very good. It had a great atmosphere. It think it was renovated last year so it should be far better.

2. You can’t go to Jamaica and not do a tour. Don’t be one of those boring tourists that just stay on the beach and go back home. If you do that you could’ve gone on the beach anywhere. If I were you I’d do a tour to Ocho Rios and see the sights. I’d go to the world famous Dunn’s River Falls, visit the Green Grotto Caves and your kids would love the Dolphin Cove where (for a fee) you can swim with the dolphins. My kids loved it! If you have the time (and money) I’d go to Negril as well and hang out at Rick’s Cafe and take the kids to Kool Runnings Water Park. The kids would love the water slides.

3. What should you know about Jamaica? Jamaica is Jamaica and not the USA, UK or Canada. The vendors can be a little bit pushy and aggressive but they don’t mean anything by it. They are not trying to be rude so don’t take it personal. Just be firm when you don’t want to buy anything. Don’t be pressured into buying anything. Because you are a tourist they may want to charge you a bit more so try and haggle. Someone else may sell you something similar for cheaper so you don’t necessarily have to buy anything the first time you see it.

4. Yes, the resort provides towels.

5. What should you bring? Bring enough money!

6. If you mean food at the hotel, it is excellent! Me and my friends really enjoyed it. The outside buffet at night really had a nice atmosphere which made everything complete. If you mean the food in Jamaica, well it is outstanding! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.

7. The weather in June is good. Usually if there is rain, it will rain hard for a couple of hours (if that) and then it is back to brilliant sunshine so don’t worry.

8. US dollars are taken in the tourist areas such as the Hip Strip (Gloucester Avenue) in Montego Bay. If you should venture out of the normal tourist zones you’d need to change your money into Jamaican dollars.
