If a holiday rental property sleeps 8 can you have 9 people stay?

i’m booked in for schoolies this year at a beach house that i’m renting with 8 people. I’m locked in as we’ve paid bond… is there any reason a 9th person can’t just pay aswell to reduce the group cost and just sleep in a tent or on the floor??? I’m pretty much looking for any laws, regulations or oh&s information that says the 9th person can’t??? thanks.

Yes it matters. The number of people is specified by zoning, fire dept regulations and liability insurance. If the owner finds 9 you are locked out and lose your bond and still must pay for the week.
