will my european navman work in the US?
Hello,
We’re going to the US on holiday later this year. I’ve got a Navman navigation system that works in Europe through the power lead plugged into the cigarette lighter.
My question is : will this work in a US rental car as well? In other words… is the cig lighter the same in the US as in Europe?
Many thanks!
Melvin
I’ve done something similar.
I used a Tom Tom top of the line unit. Home is 240 V, like Europe; but a different plug shape.
The power charger was 110/240 V and the plug could be changed to suit the country.
You will need to purchase the US maps – don’t know if you have to download, or buy them as a chip.
For TomTom, there were seven separate maps to download – buy 2 and the rest of north america was free (included canada/alaska together)
