Holiday in Turkey: Gumbet Vs Bodrum Vs Marmaris?

I am looking to go to Turkey this September for a weeks holiday and am undecided on which resort to choose. I stayed in all 3 of the above when I was a kid and had a great time. Now I am 26 and looking for a holiday with my girlfriend. We are not after somewhere that is typical 18-30s, would rather have a beach holiday with nice restaurants, bars and plenty of day trips available.

I have read that Gumbet is more geared towards the clubbing holiday, so Bodrum may be a better choice, any opinions?

Thanks

Well I can’t say a lot since I prefer the very down to earth vacations avoiding crowds, staying at villages and stuff so I never see much of the cities itself but I have passed through all of them. Avoid Gumbet entirely it’s definetely not what you’re looking for, the beaches are swarming with people it’s scary actually. Bodrum’s nice but not the central city, very crowded and swarming with foreigners. It’s a big peninsula though with lots of choices so look into Yali Kavak, Bitez and stuff. Marmaris isn’t so bad either but I feel like it’s more appropriate for sports with a lot of windsurfing going on BUT it does have a few of Turkey’s best coves and Datca is marvelous, I absolutely love Datca. It’s at the end of the Datca peninsula, the meeting point of the Aegean and Mediterranean sea. It’s a real jewel, almost only local know it, the foreigners that do come are usually by boat or yacht. Cesme near Izmir is also very nice, it has beautiful beaches but not too many resorts but it is less crowded than Bodrum.
