Authentic, undiscovered Turkey?

My mum and my granny and I love travelling. This year we’ve decided to plan a holiday for just the three of us to go somewhere together. We all love the sound of Turkey. Does anyone know a beautiful spot (preferably near some sort of body of water- lake, sea etc) that’s off the beaten track? We fancy renting a house for a week so that we can do our own thing. Has anyone got any suggestions of villages to explore, places to rent, sights to see- anything, that will keep us entertained, and far away from the masses of suntan-seekers and late night clubbers?
Mum can drive, but she says she doesn’t want the stress… I guess that leaves us with the public transport! We would love to be by the sea, with some interesting places to see during the day.
