Too young to move out?
I’m 17, just finished school and am living at home. I like living with my parents as we get along well, its just lately it seems that they’re all in my face. I want to move out and I personally think that I would be able to. I have a fulltime job (40hrs/pw) and get paid a very good rate per hour. I want to move out because I need my own space, NOT because I hate my parents. My sister Des has just turned 16 and is starting a mechanic apprenticeship next week and wants to move with me too. Our parents want us to start paying board of $120 a week each, which I see as the same rate as a rental property. I have my own car and Des is on her learners, so I think we’ll do fine together, yet when I proposed this idea to my parents they were saying we’re too young. Keeping in mind that our older sister Aprile went abroad when she was 18 and our brother Jules got married at 20… Do you think they just don’t want to let us go or do you think we are too young?
I think that you ready if you have a job to support your self and your sister. You seem to be mature and I would think so if you have older siblings, cause by watching them you learn, also everyone isnt the same, it may be a very sucessful move for you and your sister. Parents have to understand when its time to push their children out of the nest so that child may spread their wings and began their life, we as parents have to raise our child and then let go so that all we give you can see, but always be there for you to give nothing but the advice you need to continue on your way. I would be a proud parent to no that my child felt they were ready at 17 to try out their wings. Dont go by society (the world) go by your heart, its good that you bump your head on your own so that you can learn which gives strength and knowledge. GO FOR IT!
