Beach Wedding in Charleston, South Carolina?
I am recently engaged and planning my wedding for this October. I know I don’t have much time, but I have everything under control. The wedding will be small (like 70 people max) and I want the ceremony on the beach in Charleston, SC. Ok..I know the ceremony is free. My idea is to rent a large beach house for the weekend for my fiance’s and my family to stay during the weekend. My problem: All rental properties I have looked into (no matter what the rates are) restrict any kind of parties, including weddings, receptions, etc. Is that rule coming out from the rental agency? Or the owners themselves? I am SO DISCOURAGED, because I want this so bad, but it sounds like any reception (even though it would be small and outdoors) is not allowed. What am I supposed to do?? I want my reception right ON the beach.. oceanfront and I don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for some overpriced resort, with obligation to use their own catering. Any suggestions??
Call the rental agencies about the specific houses that you want to rent. Ask why parties are restricted and explain your situation. I’m sure parties are discouraged because people trash the house in the process. Offer, if you can afford it, a double deposit on the property and excellent references. The rental agencies might put up a fuss, but ask that they check with the owner before turning you down.
