Applying for rentals but still may want to resign current lease?
Hi there,
we were looking to apply for a new rental come end of year as this rental is actually quite high and feel we could save a few dollars, also we have had three burglaries at this address.
I want to know how other people go about applying for rentals?
I don’t want to tell the agent we are definitely leaving as it is very competitive to find rental properties in this region and we may end up re-signing this lease anyway. We do very much like this house but there are definitely cheaper homes around.
Would appreciate all advice
Many Thanks.
You need to let your landlord know that your applying for other rentals because some landlords will not provide references without a move-out notice.
Don’t be afraid to let your landlord know that you’re considering relocating. It’s business. If your landlord really wants to keep you, s/he may offer a discount if you renew. Otherwise, they will need to figure the cost of your unit’s vacancy/marketing/cleaning when you move-out.
