cottages for rent
How much would it cost to rent a cottage in switzerland for one week during november?

I am planning a skiing trip with some of my friends to switzerland and would like to know how much would a cottage cost and where is the best place to go? We are all students so we are looking for nightlife too.

November is a bit early in the season so not many places will be open. The glaciers at Zermatt, Saas-Fee, Engelberg, Diavolezza and Les Diablerets will be open – although not all the slopes in the resorts by any means. The later in the month you leave it the better and honestly I would leave it until December if you can. The liveliest and most interesting places to visit will likely be Zermatt or Saas-Fee. Engelberg isn’t bad, but I suspect it is very quiet in November, although it is only an hour away from Luzern. Diavolezza is near Pontresina but is also quite close to St Moritz, so I’d definitely consider St Moritz as an option if you’re happy commuting to the slopes.

Prices very widely, but you’re definitely looking off-season any time before Christmas. Expect to pay 150-300 pounds per person for a chalet or apartment for the week.

In this time of tough measures and cost cutting, it is important to offer value for money in every aspect of society, and holiday cottages are no exception. Having a holiday is a treat, so choosing the right place, at the right price is essential to ensure good value, especially with quality in mind. Cornwall Sunshine, probably the number one destination site for holiday cottages, has really provided a great option for holiday goers and cottage owners alike. By providing a single portal for

Cornwall Cottages, visitors can choose from Cornwall’s most desirable cottages, and cottage owners can be more competitive in their pricing; as owners do not have to pay commission for letting their cottages, as they would with an agent. This in turn means they can pass on savings to potential holiday makers. One of our cottage owners has really excelled in providing quality and value for money for her guests.

We’ve all been there. You hire a cottage, arrive and are horribly disappointed at the dated decor, shabby interiors and lack of thought the owners have put into it. Not anymore. With attention to detail at the forefront, property owner Anna Kioufi has renovated five beautiful cornwall cottages and made them every bit as stylish as your very own home.

Situated in stunning North Cornwall, the cornwall holiday cottages boast uncluttered, simple interiors with no chintz in sight. The modern, contemporary holiday homes are perfect for couples or families and, as well as all the usual mod cons, offer free Wi-Fi, flat screen TVs and a free movie library. There’s also access to an outdoor swimming pool (from June – September), a playground and a trampoline. The beach and other beauty spots are just a short drive away, and the local area offers several activities including scuba diving and horse riding. Check out Tremeale Barn, Mill Cottage 1, Mill Cottage 2, Shippen 1 and Shippen 2 which are featured on Cornwall Sunshine as the preferred cottage holidays.

Cottage owners in Cornwall are very competitive due to the sheer volume of available accommodation, all along the coastline and inland. You can negotiate slightly better rates then listed, especially in the off season periods, although it is true that coastal cottages tend to be more popular all year round. However, by contacting the owner direct, you can see what appetite they have for a slight reduction in rental price, but be warned it’s fair to say that during the summer months, nearly all cottages are booked due to such a high demand during the school holidays. Nonetheless, it is always worth asking during this tough climate.

There are plenty of other examples, like Anna’s story, of cottage owners really upping the anti on quality and value for money, and many of them can be found on the Cornwall Sunshine website.

cottages late availability
Can anyone recommend a cottage for New Years Eve?

We are 5 couples looking for 2 nights way at New Years Eve. We all live in London so don’t want to be more than a couple of hours drive. We’ve left it really late to organise and so are struggling with availability. We’d like to arrive on NYE and depart on the 2nd Jan. If anyone can recommend anywhere that would be great.

Hi – try the Enjoy England website, for a wide range of self catering places to stay in the South of England:

Consider trying a camping barn or farm stay – as prices are much lower than for ordinary self catering accommodation in country houses. Facilities can be basic but properties are very spacious and it’s a wonderful way to discover the countryside at a great price. You can find barns from as little as £6 ppn:
