The televised version of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver demonstrated a city in total upheaval for 16 days. Just to think that they put seven years of hard work into preparing for this major international event , and regardless of the trajedies and mistakes that surrounded the early days of the Games, Canada was able to fight and finally claim victory when it won gold in the final hockey game against the U.S. Our country won a total of 14 medals, the most number of golds to be won by a host country of the Olympics.
Downtown Vancouver was the site of countless special events, featuring live concerts , wonderful events , ziplining along Robson Street – where there appearently was a seven-hour wait – and non-stop parties all over . At night Granville Street , host of the liveliest nightlife in Vancouver, was packed for hours on end . A number of pavilions were set up to display Canada’s provinces, as well as the different countries that participated in the Games. I traveled downtown on a few occurrences during the course of the Games, but I have to say that the most unforgettable sight was following the Opening ceremonies .
I’ll always contemplate walking down Granville Street at this wonderful time , and it made me happy to see Canada, where the citizens are so patriotic. As I went to Vancouver to do business, I met a Vancouver real estate agent who was equally dazzled by the fact that many people hoysted their Canadian flags up in their balconies proudly displaying their Country! Wherever you went, you witnessed people dressed in Canada’s national colors of red and white, high-fiving complete strangers as they screamed and cheered and had a wonderful time. And no person created any problems! Security officers were located every several feet, but there weren’t any fights to disrupt. Well we didn’t witness any.
Such an amazing event in such a world class city like this a city like this is a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence! Vancouver bc real estate agents from REMAX Vancouver were also very patriotic by putting Canadian flags all over the city and volunteering for the event as well. We hope you will enjoy this city if you are ever in Vancouver sometime, which will offer you an opportunity to discover the city all on your own!
