win a holiday

Some say it’s impossible to win a war, because really in a war no one really wins. In fact, many point to the reality that once you have a war, the offspring of those that had been killed on either side will forever want revenge and re-initiate a battle. This is one of the huge arguments that the liberals use and the anti-war protesters use to show how ridiculous war actually is.

These folks complain about the Military-Industrial Complex, and false political impasses, and purposely botched international diplomacy and negotiations; all to cause a war, rather than to prevent one. It is true that there is a lot of money made on the creation of war toys, and it is one of the largest industries if not the largest industry in the world.

Nevertheless, when a nation finds its self in a war, it must win. If that country cannot win they should think twice about entering a conflict, and exiting the conflict in one piece. Some say that President Barack Obama cares more about himself and his political future than the mission in Afghanistan or Iraq. It’s hard to say if this is actually true, however, from his actions it appears to be.

Purposely being afraid to win a war is almost as a irresponsible as allowing a war to break out over a political impasse that was botched by diplomatic efforts. The object of any war is to win, and survive. It is a human contest at the ultimate level. It should not be celebrated, and should not be initiated unless completely necessary.

Today, we find ourselves in a war in Afghanistan with a commander-in-chief who might be unfit to lead. This is a completely unfortunate situation and our young president is not playing the proper role of commander-in-chief. History will show what happens, but as it stands things aren’t looking too good for him.

Indeed, I suppose now I’ll go make some more speeches and use a little PR and puffery to promote his political objectives, while he finds a way to exit the conflict without destroying his political career. He can’t win, he’s afraid. Please consider all this.
